Zimmie’s Artist Cottage
Welcome to Zimmie’s – A Cottage for Artists
Named after Zimmie Brackett, a true Monhegan original, we’re thrilled to be able to offer this iconic space to artists as an independent rental to live and create art together. Zimmie was a bon vivant, a legendary host, dancer and fun-meister. He made The Island Inn’s newest addition his home for over 40 years.
Zimmie’s is a 4-bedroom, 2 full bath, foursquare farmhouse located in the center of town, with views of the meadow and the historic Monhegan Lighthouse. The colorful gardens and clothesline have been favorites of visual artists for decades.
How To Reserve
The Island Inn is coordinating the reservation process, but Zimmie’s is meant to be an independent cottage rental for artists coming to Monhegan for the sole purpose of creating visual art.
Although Zimmie’s is primarily for groups, individual bedrooms may be available on certain dates for artists traveling independently. Please contact The Island Inn for more details.
Two of the bedrooms have a queen bed, one bedroom has a full, while the fourth bedroom has an extra long twin bed. There are two full baths. The building can accommodate up to seven people, based on double occupancy.
Zimmie’s is a self-sufficient weekly cottage rental with arrivals and departures on Saturdays.
Please call The Island Inn at 207-596-0371 to inquire about reservations.
This is a bright and spacious historic building built in 1922. A long time year-round residence, Zimmie’s has high ceilings, oversized windows, hardwood floors, original wood trim and doors, built-ins, and a one-of-a-kind shower tiled with pottery pieces and Monhegan sea glass. There is a full kitchen well-stocked with cooking essentials, a dining room and ample common space to work, relax and learn together. The cottage has two full baths. The beautiful three-season porch overlooking the meadow is perfect for lessons, critiques, rainy day painting or just enjoying a Monhegan sunrise with a mug of fresh-brewed coffee.

The weekly rate is $2100 plus tax, with 50% due upon reservation.
