Dining

The Island Inn on Monhegan Island offers a dining experience that combines fresh, local Maine cuisine with picturesque harbor views.

The dining room, open to both guests and the public, serves a full American breakfast each morning, included in the accommodation rate. Dinner is available à la carte, with reservations required. The menu features locally sourced seafood, including lobster, scallops, and mussels, as well as grilled and roasted meats and vegetarian options.

Early Morning Coffee

• Freshly brewed coffee and a variety of teas are made available at 7:00am, in the dining room, to give you that wake up call and a head start on breakfast.

Breakfast

• A complete and cooked breakfast is served each morning, in the dining room, offering the traditional breakfast dishes, baked goods, juices, cereals, coffee and tea.

Lunch

• For lunch, The Barnacle Café, located near the wharf, offers sandwiches, chowder, salads, baked goods, and beverages. Guests can enjoy their meals at the café or take them to go. The Barnacle also serves a variety of coffees using locally roasted beans from Monhegan Coffee Roasters.

Dinner

• Each night of the week the Chef prepares a variety of different dishes to satisfy those hungry hikers who have walked the island or lighter dishes for those who have not been quite as active. The Dining Room opens at 5:30pm. The menu is based upon Maine’s abundant fresh fare, including locally caught  lobster for which Maine is so well known, local scallops and mussels, together with grilled and roasted meats, and a delicious selection of vegetarian dishes. Soups, chowders and salads, and home baked desserts complement these dishes and offer an exciting start and a mouth watering finish to a relaxing dinner.

Dinner Menu

• Special Diets can be catered to, although we do request that advance notice be given for those that take more preparation. Please understand that nothing is readily available on the island and all food items have to be ordered in advance and delivered on the boat to the island. Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan selections available everyday.
• Wine and Beer are available at The Barnacle as an off-premise item and can be chilled and served to you in the dining room as we, together with the other food establishments on the island, are not permitted to sell alcohol. You may also bring wine, beer or liquor to the island. Beer and wine purchased from our cafe, The Barnacle, may be enjoyed without additional charge. For outside beverages not purchased from the Barnacle, there is a corkage fee.
• Dress is casual in the Dining Room.
